When Was Jesus Really Born?

A Biblical and Scientific Look at the Timing of Christ’s Birth

Every Year, the Debate Returns…

“When was Jesus born?”

Historians argue. Pastors debate. Conspiracy channels theorize. Some say March 28, referencing early Christian writings like De Pascha Computus (243 AD). The Church celebrates it on December 25. Others say the spring equinox. Others still, winter solstice.

I say — they’re all correct.

Let me explain how.

Go Back to the Beginning

Genesis 1:3 (KJV)“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

This was the very first moment of creation — the moment light pierced darkness.

Now shift to the beginning of human life…

The “Zinc Spark” – When Light and Life Begin

Modern science has discovered something incredible: When a sperm fertilizes an egg, there is a literal flash of light — a phenomenon called the zinc spark.

Psalm 139:13–14 (KJV)“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”

That flash of light signals conception — the beginning of a new soul. Not birth. Not breath. Not when the baby kicks. Life begins with Light.

40 Weeks — A Holy Pattern

A full-term pregnancy takes 40 weeks.

In Scripture, “40” is not random — it’s a divine pattern.

  • 40 days and nights of rain – Genesis 7:12

  • 40 years in the wilderness – Numbers 14:33

  • 40 days Jesus fasted – Matthew 4:2

  • 40 days Jesus remained after resurrection – Acts 1:3

Like my album title: “Exodus IV.3 – 40 Years of Wondering” — it speaks to that divine waiting and transformation.

Spring to Winter – A Holy Gestation

I live on a ranch. Every spring, birds begin to nest. Trees bloom. New life emerges.

March 20 – the spring equinox – marks the beginning of longer days. Could this be the moment when Jesus was conceived?

Add 40 weeks… March 20 to December 25

Luke 1:35 (KJV)“The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

Jesus, the Light of the World, conceived as the light returns to earth — Born in the darkest time of year, as light begins to rise again.

Death, Birth, and the 12 Days

Historical records suggest that Jesus died on April 3, AD 33.

If He was conceived around March 20, and born December 25, then He died 12 days after His birthday.

  • 12 tribes of Israel

  • 12 apostles

  • 12 gates of the New Jerusalem – Revelation 21:12

God doesn’t miss a detail.

Galatians 4:4 (KJV)“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman…”

When Does Life Begin?

The world debates abortion. They argue over heartbeats, viability, and legal definitions. But God already answered the question — life begins at conception.

When Jesus became flesh, it was not at birth. It was when Mary said yes. It was when the Holy Spirit overshadowed her. That’s when Emmanuel entered our world.

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…”

A Word on Conspiracies…

People love numbers like 33, and days like the equinox or solstice. They spin theories about pagan holidays, hidden symbolism, or ancient mysteries. Yes — cultures, cults, and secret societies exist.

But God did it first.

Isaiah 46:10 (KJV)“Declaring the end from the beginning… My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”

Man copies. God creates.

Final Thought

Jesus is not just the Son of God — He is Light itself.

John 1:9 (KJV)“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

He was conceived in light, born in the dark, and rose in glory. The seasons testify. The body testifies. The Scriptures testify.

Revelation 22:13 (KJV)“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
